No search underway for Fulton director of administration

The City of Fulton is not searching for a new director of administration, a city spokesperson said Wednesday.

Dallas Ernst, communications consultant for the city, said a search has not begun for a director of administration.

He refused to say when the search process would begin.

The Fulton City Council fired Renee Tyler as Fulton's director in July, during a closed special session.

Motion to terminate the employment of Tyler was made by Valerie Sebacher and seconded by Lauren Nelson.

The motion received five "yes" votes, while three council members abstained.

Since then, Courtney Doyle has been serving as the interim director of administration.

Tyler was hired as the director of administration in April 2022. She came to Fulton from Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

It is unclear why Tyler was fired.

No search for a permanent director of administration has taken place since Tyler's firing and Doyle's appointment in July.

According to Fulton's city code, "the personnel code shall provide for the appointment of an acting city director of administration in the event of a vacancy in the office of the city director of administration for a period no longer than shall be required to conduct a search for a person to occupy the office of director of administration."
