The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is hosting an online public informational meeting for a project to replace the bridge deck on Route BB.
The bridge deck is located on Route BB over Hillers Creek, north of Route AA near Tebbetts.
According to MoDOT's website, the bridge was built in 1968.
"The support structures of the bridge are in good condition, but the deck of the bridge has deteriorated to the point it needs to be replaced," the website states.
Bridge rails will be updated as part of this project.
During the project, the Callaway County Route BB bridge will be closed. The closure is expected to last for 50 days.
A signed detour will be in effect. The detour will go through Routes AA, 94 and PP.
The project is in the planning and design phase. It is expected to cost approximately $632,000, although the cost may change.
The project is scheduled to be included in MoDOT's January 2024 letting. At that time, contractors will submit bids for the project.
Construction is expected to be completed by Dec. 1, 2024.
An online public informational meeting for this project is open Nov. 8-22.
Downloadable exhibits are available to view on MoDOT's website, modot.org/route-bb-bridge-deck-replacement-callaway-county.
According to the online exhibits, approximately 424 vehicles travel the bridge daily.
The online materials include a project overview, design plans and the signed detour route.
During this period, the public is encouraged to ask questions of the project team.
"It is vital that stakeholders provide input during the open comment period (Nov. 8-22, 2023) to help the project team determine the parameters to build into the contract that will guide the contractor during the construction process," MoDOT's website states.
Comments and questions can be submitted using the online from on MoDOT's website. They can also be mailed to Missouri Department of Transportation, Re: Callaway County Route B Bridge over Hillers Creek Project, 1511 Missouri Boulevard, Jefferson City, MO 65109. Mailed-in comments and questions should be postmarked on or before Nov. 22.
Updates on the project can be received by signing up for project specific updates using an online form on MoDOT's website.
